Covert Public Schools Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with Annual Parade
On Saturday, September 16, the streets of Covert came alive with vibrant colors, music, and community spirit as the town celebrated its second annual Hispanic Heritage Parade. The event, organized by Covert Public Schools, marked the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month and showcased the rich cultural diversity that makes the community unique.
The parade was a true community effort, featuring a variety of participants from across the school district:
- The newly crowned Homecoming Queen and King led the procession, representing the pride of Covert’s student body.
- The beloved Covert Bulldog mascot brought smiles to spectators’ faces as it marched along the route.
- Members of the Covert Robotics Team showcased their innovative spirit, highlighting the school’s commitment to STEM education.
- Numerous students and their families joined in, adding to the festive atmosphere with colorful costumes and enthusiastic participation.
The parade route wound through town, culminating at the Covert Van Buren District Library. There, a brief ceremony was held to commemorate the occasion and reflect on the importance of Hispanic heritage in the community.
The celebrations didn’t end there. Following the ceremony, parade-goers made their way back to the Covert School grounds for a true feast of the senses. Attendees were treated to a variety of authentic Hispanic foods, offering a delicious taste of cultural traditions. Local artisans also displayed their talents with an array of handcrafted goods available for purchase.
This annual event does more than just kick off Hispanic Heritage Month—it brings the community together, celebrates diversity, and provides an opportunity for cultural exchange and understanding. As Covert Public Schools continues to grow and evolve, events like the Hispanic Heritage Parade serve as a reminder of the strength found in differences and the unity created through celebration.
The school district extends its heartfelt thanks to all who participated in and attended this year’s parade. The enthusiasm and support of the community make events like this possible and contribute to the vibrant, inclusive community Covert is proud to be.
Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for next year’s parade and join in as Covert continues to honor and celebrate the Hispanic heritage that enriches the school district and the town.
